  • What are we busy with today?

A lot is going on at The American Backstage Company.  Make up orders for high school shows have been big this week, thanks to our special price on bulk orders of Ben Nye's personal makeup kits.  We've been delighted to welcome dancers buying shoes, teachers browsing our huge selection of scripts, and church staffers picking up rental costumes for Easter pageants.  Rip has invested in a new steam gadget made especially to clean "mascot heads" like the Easter Bunnies have.  (Still a few left!  Reserve yours before they're gone!)

We love the variety of costume requests from our customers.  Last week we provided zombie costumes and makeup for a big political conference, and this week we rented 1860s-era servant costumes for a luncheon at one of Washington's most historic hotels.  Some of the school shows we are working on are "Willy Wonka Jr.," "Into the Woods," and "The Wiz."

Legendary theatre teacher Vera Katz spent two Saturday afternoons here at American Backstage inspiring students to raise their audition monologues to a new level of excellence.  A local improv company has been holding rehearsals in one of our classrooms.  Our landlord has affixed signs for our reserved parking spaces.  Orders are coming in from our costume suppliers.  And we are still unpacking boxes.
